Ioana Baltan

Born in Romania in 1993 and now based in London, UK, Ioana is an energetic figurative artist whose oeuvre revolves around myths and legends.Currently, Ioana is deepening her research into myths, focusing on femininity in Ancient Greek texts. Her work brings a contemporary approach to the idea of a ‘’goddess’’ as a celebration of beauty, innocence, and power. She is intrigued by the sharp antagonism between how goddesses were portrayed over time, sometimes as beauty icons and sometimes as grotesque monsters. Her mysterious paintings depict a fantasy world built with artificial lights, gradients, cosmic elements, wild animals, and women as the main subject.
