Not quite humans, yet not quite animals, these are the leading roles in Ellie Davies’s oil paintings inspired by folklore, superstition and the chronicles of her own life. Born in 2002 in the North of England, Davies completed her degree at the University of Brighton in Fine Art Painting in 2024 and has gone on to show work at the Saatchi Gallery, Liliya Art Gallery and internationally in Times Square NYC with Arteom Gallery.
She was additionally chosen for the Mawddach Graduate Residency 2024 and was the 2024 Uni of Brighton Freelands Painting prize nominee and a 2024 Graduate Award nominee. Influenced by her rural upbringing surrounded by mountains and lakes, Davies often incorporates natural elements like seawater into paintings to reflect the natural landscapes within her work that curious creatures and characters seem to inhabit.
