I created the 3 works while thinking a lot about origins and what that word meant to me at the time. I had just spoken to a friend from back in Slovenia who went to a flea market to sell his grandparents’ old stuff and earned 900 euros. He said most of the other sellers hated him — they took their job seriously, valued their findings, and he looked like he just came to get rid of old things to get a few extra bucks. Some sellers felt like he was slumming by coming down to the market. By the end of the day, they bought most of his items and resold them at their stand. We both thought that was quite great.
