I see my objects here as a continuation of this process in a way — their core subject is gradually stripped from their primary context until nobody knows where it came from in the first place. I used a lot of antique objects as a base for these works. A weathered wooden frame, a fractured porcelain doll figure, a stained handkerchief yellowed from age. They were fragile and marked by the passage of time, standing as witnesses to their own histories. Sometimes I feel like their saviour, snatching them from the clutches of attic oblivion and sometimes like their worst nightmare, thrusting them into the realm of fine art and contemporary object-hood, repurposing them over and over again.
